My current focus is on mobile device friendly 'Responsive Design'. I primarily do informational, or brochure sites as they are called. Your website is the place people will go to learn about your product or service, where it is, and when it's open and, unlike your physical business, your website is open 24/7.

The Yellow Pages are so yesterday! Compared to even a small ad a website is very economical and available at the touch of a button, and with more and more people using their Cell phone as their primary phone, fewer and fewer people have a phone book at all.

Responsive Design

“Responsive” websites (such as this one) re-flow or alter their content to accommodate the varying screen sizes of desktop computers and mobile devices like tablets and smart phones. As depicted in the infographic below, the growth of the mobile web is exponential and will overtake desktop browsing.

Using a Smartphone to search for businesses or services will take advantage of the GPS location of the phone resulting in locally relevant results.

I offer fully managed hosting for your website. Installation and all administration and settings will be taken care of by me, and includes ongoing back-up and maintenance of your websites files. I can also provide domain name registration for new websites.

If you wish to take care of the hosting yourself because I'm doing a make-over of an existing site, or you would just rather do it yourself, that is fine too. I will send you your new sites files upon completion of the project and payment has been received.

Domain Names

You will need to get a domain name (the yourwebsite.com) for your website if it is a new site. This short article at “Smashing Magazine” has some useful tips for picking a domain name for your new website.

Your domain name is your property, you should own and control it. You will need to register your domain name with a domain name registrar in order to own it. Luckily this is easy to do.

I recommend going to Hover.com. You can search for available domain names there, their registration process is very easy, and they don't try to push all sorts of additional service at you. If you need assistance I can help you.
